Cultural Fanaticism

What is special about this kind of fanaticism is that we can find it almost between people, even literates.

People now don't know the right way to cultural renaissance. Some of them look at the great civilization of the past. Others think cultural renaissance means getting rid of the past.

The Arab culture witnessed among its history the battles between past and present. We don't have to go very fast. The Arabic language is a clear example of that. Nowadays many people calls for using Arabic accents saying that the mother language is old, difficult and slow. In the other hand, before the beginning of this century, poets and writers used old and extremely words. Some people found the truth, the right way. We can use our mother language but choose the worlds which are not extremely difficult but at the same time good in literature.

The problem of old and new can be found everywhere and every time. Here we can refer to what Taha Hussein, the famous Egyptian writer said in 1922

"There is no age in any nation, which had contributed in literature, that didn't witness this problem "Old and New".

Whenever and wherever this problem appears it causes violence discussions and we can divide poets and writers into three groups.

The first group is those who are extremely in favour of the past. The second one is those who are extremely in favour of the new, and the third one is those who try to keep the link between old and new by making use of the old and adding the new to it."

So we find that nations should take from each others, but the problem is what to take and what to leave. People should take only things that suit their beliefs, morals, values and traditions.

Like it or not, sports have become a part of our everyday life. For some it is a job, a hobby, or

a form of entertainment.

Sports have become a very important field of life. Nowadays, Sports differs greatly from the past. There are clubs, local teams and national teams. There are international competitions between several countries. We can say that the "environment of sports" has changed. One of the phenomena noticed after this changes is what we call "Sports Fanaticism".

According to the dictionary, those who are “an enthusiastic devotee of a sport or diversion, usually as spectator rather than a participant are called fans.

Sports fans feel that they can maintain or boost their self-esteem by identifying with sport teams.

People are often swept up in the moment of a sporting event and lose their individuality and act as a group. For example, one group of fans may strike out against the opposing team’s fans and a riot may break out.

I think the main cause of roughness in the sports pitches is fanaticism, sports fanaticism. Some people think that defeat means the end of the world. They act as if sports matches were war battles.

Sports fanaticism is the result of forgetting the truth of Sports. People forgot that they play sports to know each other, to build our bodies and to acquire physical skills and spiritual values.

Both players and spectators should know this well. They should have the soul of sports. They have to be tolerant and accept defeat as we accept winning. Finally let’s apply the FIFA's slogan “Fair Play”

IS a football match a reason for Fanaticism?!!
